Building a gravel path in compacted layers — a tamped crushed-stone base under tamped decorative gravel — so it stays firm underfoot and gives weeds nowhere to root.
Technique: Permeable Joint Compound
The joints are the maintenance burden of every flagstone patio and paver walk: polymeric sand washes out, weeds root in whatever replaces it, ants mine it from below, and a pressure washer — the tool you'd like to clean with — blasts the joints empty. Most people accept re-sanding as a recurring chore because they don't know the alternative category exists.
