Soft foam interface pads flex unevenly over profiles — full pressure lands on the hard edge and burns through the finish. Cutting a piece of 10mm firm pad and placing it at the corner under the foam evens out the contact so the whole contour sands uniformly.

No matter how small you cut a caulk tube's tip, it delivers too much for fine detail work. Load a cheap epoxy syringe with caulk and you can place an exact, tiny bead in the corners and profiles of built-ins where a gun just makes a mess.
