Ice Maker Supply Line

Joining plastic tubing to a metal compression fitting takes three parts in the right materials: the metal nut, a plastic ferrule (not brass), and a support sleeve inside the tubing. Skip the sleeve and the tubing can squeeze down and pop out under pressure.

A compression fitting made for copper gets used on plastic tubing with the same brass ferrule, and it seems fine — until the plastic creeps, the joint loosens, and the tube blows out of the fitting with the water on.
