Wipe Gloss Surfaces With a Rinse-Aid Mix So Fingerprints Stop Sticking

The Problem

High-gloss kitchen units, aluminum handles, stainless, glass — everything shiny is a fingerprint magnet. Ordinary cleaning takes the prints off and does nothing to stop the next set, so shiny kitchens get wiped daily and still look touched.

The Technique

1. Mix equal parts: one part dishwasher rinse aid, one part white vinegar, one part dish soap, one part water.
2. Pour it into its own (labeled) bottle and shake to combine.
3. Pour a little onto a cloth — onto the cloth, not the surface — and wipe.

The vinegar and soap clean; the rinse aid leaves a sheeting film that keeps skin oils from printing. The creator ran it on gloss units, aluminum, and glass and the prints stopped showing.
