The Problem
High-gloss kitchen units, aluminum handles, stainless, glass — everything shiny is a fingerprint magnet. Ordinary cleaning takes the prints off and does nothing to stop the next set, so shiny kitchens get wiped daily and still look touched.
The Technique
- Mix equal parts: one part dishwasher rinse aid, one part white vinegar, one part dish soap, one part water.
- Pour it into its own (labeled) bottle and shake to combine.
- Pour a little onto a cloth — onto the cloth, not the surface — and wipe.
The vinegar and soap clean; the rinse aid leaves a sheeting film that keeps skin oils from printing. The creator ran it on gloss units, aluminum, and glass and the prints stopped showing.
Pro tip: Use it on the surfaces hands actually touch — door fronts around handles, appliance pulls, the fridge door. One pass there beats re-wiping the whole kitchen.
