Build a 3/4-Inch Tabletop That Reads as Thick: Double the Edges
Instead of building the whole top from 1.5-inch stock, build it from 3/4 material and glue a matching build-up strip around the underside of the perimeter — the edge reads full thickness while the top stays lighter, cheaper, and more stable.
