Pop a Stuck Tail-Light Lens Loose With a Zip Tie, Not a Pry Bar

The Problem

Tail-light assemblies are held by a couple of visible fasteners plus hidden push clips — and after years of heat cycles, those clips seize. Prying with a screwdriver chips the lens or gouges paint; even plastic trim tools can chip the housing edge when a clip lets go all at once. Plenty of stuck lenses have been cracked by the removal, not the accident.

The Technique

A zip tie is stiff enough to pull with and soft enough to hurt nothing:

1. Remove the visible fasteners first — the assembly is now held only by the stuck clips.
2. Work the tip of a zip tie behind an accessible corner of the lens housing.
3. Feed it through so you've got a loop or both ends to grip.
4. Pull straight out, working along the edge — the tie loads the housing right at the clip line, and the clips pop free one at a time instead of all at once.

No metal touches paint, and the pull is spread across the housing edge rather than concentrated at one pry point.
