Deep-Clean a Bathroom Fast With a Detailing Foam Sprayer and Two Ingredients

The Problem

Deep-cleaning a bathroom means spraying and wiping one surface at a time while the cleaner dries out ahead of you. Foam solves the dwell problem — it clings and stays wet long enough to loosen the dirt — but foaming cleaners come a can at a time.

The Technique

The car-detailing industry has had the tool for years: a pump foam sprayer (the creator's is an IK Foam Pro 12, a two-gallon pump unit; pressurized versions run off a compressor).

  1. Mix the fill: water to about a gallon and a half, one cup of isopropyl alcohol, one cup of unscented castile soap, then top up to the two-gallon line.
  2. Pressurize and foam every surface — countertops, sink, toilet, even the floor.
  3. Let it sit. The foam stays wet and keeps lifting dirt while it clings, instead of evaporating like a mist would.
  4. Scrub, then rinse with water.

Skip wood surfaces — the mix is safe on essentially everything else. The same rig foams a car for a pre-wash, which is what it was built for, and a two-gallon fill uses just two cups of ingredients.
