Hold the siding piece into the gable corner, transfer one measurement from the bottom edge to the top edge, connect the mark back to the corner — the line matches the roof pitch, and the offcut becomes the template for every remaining piece.
Skip the offset formulas: hold the pieces to the wall and mark them in place. Then assemble so each upper piece feeds inside the one below, and drive screws high on the joints where water never runs.
Vinyl siding hangs, it isn't fastened tight: nail in the center of the slot and stop when the head just touches the hem, leaving a sixteenth to an eighth of play so the panel can expand without waving.
