Join Boards End-to-End With a 45-Degree Cut and Dowels
When stock is too short and a length joint is the only option, cut both ends at 45 degrees and pin the splice with about three dowels — the angled cut trades weak end grain for a broad glue face, and the dowels align and reinforce it.
