Make Paint Rollers Last
Getting more than one session out of a roller cover — washing and drying it for reuse, or keeping it loaded and sealed in a bag between coats.
A gallon ziplock fits a handheld cut-in pail — fold it over the edges, pour in your paint, zip it shut between sessions to keep the paint fresh, and squeeze leftovers back into the can through a snipped corner.
keep paint from drying out overnight, save paint between coats, sandwich bag painting trick, paint cup liner
The handheld cut-in pail is one of painting's best cheap tools — but its consumable liners are a racket: purpose-made disposable inserts you buy by the sleeve, use for an afternoon, and trash. Skip the liner and you're scrubbing dried paint out of the pail instead. And either way, paint left in an open pail overnight skins and thickens.
The mid-project zip is the part the store-bought liners can't do — they keep the pail clean, but they don't seal.
