Clean Gutters From the Ground With a Leaf Blower and an Extension Pipe
Piping that carries the leaf blower's air up and hooks over the gutter edge lets you walk the gutter run from the ground, blasting debris out — no ladder moves every six feet.

The Problem
Gutter cleaning by hand is a ladder marathon: climb, scoop the six feet you can reach, descend, shuffle the ladder, repeat around the whole house. Most of the danger in the job isn't the gutter — it's the twenty ladder repositions, each one a chance to set a foot wrong.
The Technique
Put the ladder away and send air up instead:
- Extend the leaf blower's reach with rigid piping — either a purchased gutter-cleaning kit for your blower, or lengths of lightweight pipe that fit the blower's outlet.
- Top the extension with a curved end piece — a U-bend — so the air, blown from the ground, turns down into the gutter channel.
- Hook the curve over the gutter edge and walk the run. The airstream blasts leaves and dry debris up and out as you go.
- Work toward and finish at the downspout end, then check the downspout itself is clear.
Dry days only — dry leaves fly, wet sludge laughs at air.
Pro tip: Angle the outlet so debris blows away from you, not overhead — and expect a mess on the ground either way; that's the trade for staying off the ladder. Raking up afterward is still faster and safer than twenty climbs.
Safety note: Wear safety glasses and a dust mask — what comes out of a gutter is mold spores, grit, and the occasional startled thing, and some of it rains back down. If your gutters have standing wet muck rather than dry leaves, this method mostly redistributes it; that's a scoop job.
