dishwasher smells bad, dishes come out dirty, dishwasher not cleaning top rack, white residue on glasses, stinky dishwasher fix
A dishwasher that's started to smell, leave grit on the glasses, or dry things with a film isn't usually broken — it's clogged. Food debris collects in the filter at the bottom of the tub, and mineral scale and pulp block the small jets in the spray arms so water stops reaching the top rack. Running a "cleaning cycle" with a tablet doesn't fix either, because the trapped debris never moves.
