Technique: Tape a Drop Cloth Standing Up
A drop cloth that isn't fixed down travels. It rucks up under a ladder, catches on a foot, and slides away from the skirting exactly where the paint is most likely to land.
Taping the edge means working along the floor on your knees, and the length of a room is a lot of floor. It's the step most likely to get skipped for a job that's only going to take twenty minutes.
