Get Dried Paint Out of Clothes With Boiling Water and Rubbing Alcohol

The Problem
Paint on your clothes never announces itself until it's dry. By laundry time the splatter is cured into the weave, and a normal wash cycle won't touch it — most people either accept the new "painting clothes" or throw the garment out.
The Technique
- Lay the garment out and pour boiling water directly onto the dried paint. The heat softens and swells the cured paint.
- Apply rubbing alcohol to the spot.
- Scrub with a toothbrush. The paint starts breaking up and lifting out of the fibers.
- Repeat the water-alcohol-scrub cycle until the fabric comes clean, then launder as usual.
Pro tip: This is a latex-paint trick — water-based paint softens with heat and gives way to alcohol. Oil-based paint needs mineral spirits and lower expectations.
Safety note: You're handling boiling water — pour with the garment flat in a sink or basin, not held in your hand. Check the fabric tolerates it; delicate synthetics and boiling water don't mix.
